The CG:Challenge aims to create visibility for effective problem solving and implementation. It was added as an event to CG Week in 2019. The organizing committee selects a challenging geometric or topological problem, such as packing polygons or coordinated motion planning, and provides a selection of (large) input instances together with a quality indicator. Participants have several months to develop and implement algorithms to solve the challenge as well as possible on the given inputs. The contributors that submit the best solutions are recognized at CG Week and invited to present their results, both at the event and in the SoCG proceedings.
The next iteration of the CG:Challenge takes place as part of CG Week in Kanazawa, Japan on June 23–27, 2025. For the problem statement, timeline, etc., see the conference webpage.
