CALL FOR PAPERS
for a special issue of the journal
ALGORITHMICA
on
Algorithmic Methodologies for processing
Protein Structures, Sequences and Networks
(see http://www.cs.uic.edu/~dasgupta/special-issues/CALL-FOR-PAPERS.htm
for an online version of this announcement)
(for enquiry, send email to dasgupta at cs.uic.edu)
This is to announce a call for papers for for a special issue in the journal "Algorithmica"
(published by Springer-Verlag) on
"Algorithmic Problems for processing Protein Structures, Protein Sequences and Protein Networks".
Guest Editors: Piotr Berman, Bhaskar DasGupta, Jie Liang
Submission Deadline for the special issue: March 1, 2006
Manuscripts are solicited for a volume of "Algorithmica"
on topics concerning the development and analysis of new algorithmic
techniques for processing protein sequences, structures and networks.
Algorithmica is an international journal which publishes original papers on algorithms
with mathematically proven performance.
The thorough refereeing of the papers in this series will follow the
general procedure and standards of refereeing in the journal.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of possible topics of interest
for the special issue:
Protein sequence design
Protein structure prediction
Protein function prediction
Protein folding
Protein Networks
Evolution of protein sequences or structures
Protein subsequence or substructure comparisons
We are explicitly soliciting papers that
* emphasize algorithmic methodologies,
* are directly relevant to or inspired by their applications in the above areas
The Guest Editors assure a thorough and timely refereeing process.

Algorithmica has an online submission system. Authors should submit their
papers at
https://www.editorialmanager.com/algo/
by March 1, 2006.
When submitting papers for this special issue, please choose
"Sp Iss: Methodologies; DasGupta"
under article type.
Manuscripts may be
submitted earlier and their refereeing process may be initiated earlier as well.
Manuscripts must be prepared according to
the normal submission requirements of Algorithmica, as
