TOPOLOGY AND SPATIAL DATABASES WORKSHOP
(Apologies for cross-postings)
GLASGOW 5th April 2005 - (co-located with GIS Research UK 2005 6-9 April
2005)
Website: http://www.ge.ucl.ac.uk/~clairee/topologyandgis
The Topology and Spatial Databases Workshop will bring together
researchers, developers and end-users of topology and associated
analytical tools. This one-day workshop aims to define the research agenda
for topology in spatial databases, with an emphasis on emerging themes.
The workshop will be held in Glasgow on the 5th April 2005, and will form
part of the GIS Research UK (GISRUK) conference. It is sponsored by
Laser-Scan Ltd. and University College London.
The organising committee of the Topology and Spatial Databases Workshop is
calling for authors to submit papers for oral presentation during the
workshop. Papers will also be considered for inclusion in a special issue
of Computers, Environment and Urban Systems. Suggested topics include,
but should not be limited to:
1. Topological Theory and Modelling - including standards, frameworks,
topological modelling, approaches to implementation of topology.
2. Data - issues and benefits relating to availability, reformatting,
cleaning and management of topologically structured data.
3. Applications and Analysis - for example, how topology is used for data
cleaning and analysis in applications such as transportation, network
analysis, land registration, geology and so forth.
4. Futures - work currently being undertaken to broaden the scope within
which topology can be used, to improve performance and to apply topology
in three-dimensional settings.
Abstracts, which will be refereed, should be submitted by e-mail in
Microsoft Word or PDF format to:
Claire Ellul - clairee at ge.ucl.ac.uk
Abstracts should be between 750-1000 words long and include a list of
keywords. Citation and Referencing formats should be those adopted by
Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, which can be found by clicking
the Guide for Authors link at
http://authors.elsevier.com/JournalDetail.html?PubID=304&Precis=DESC.
Principle authors should also submit a 50-word biography indicating their
stage of career along with the abstract. Authors will be required to
provide a full paper prior to the workshop.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 17th December 2004
Notification of review outcome: 24th January 2005
Deadline for submission of full papers: 18th March 2005
Workshop: 5th April 2005
